10. What about a visa; do I need one for Mexican dental treatments?
A passport is sufficient for border towns. If you travel to our dental office in Cozumel or Cancun, you definitely need a valid passport and a visa, which is handed out by flight attendants or upon arrival before clearing customs at the airport.
11. Is a dental implant a more painful procedure than a tooth extraction?
All surgical procedures involve a certain degree of pain, and a certain level of anesthesia is given during dental implant procedures. Patients generally experience a mild level of discomfort and complain of mild pain once the anesthesia wears off. The pain level also depends on whether it is a simple tooth implant or a bone graft procedure.
12. What about water filtration systems?

If you live in Texas, New Mexico, or Arizona, you can easily drive to El Paso, Texas, and park. The Juárez dental office drivers to get you to/from El Paso to the office at no charge. If you want to go to Cancun, there are direct flights from many U.S. cities. Once you arrive in Cancun, the dental office representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel; all local transportation to/from your hotel and to/from your dental appointments are complimentary.

35. Can I get a price estimate before I go to Mexico for dental work?

Would I need to return to Mexico for cleaning the implant arch or bridge?
That’s a great question, Donna. I can only speak for the dental offices in our vetted programs because they all have similar aftercare protocols for implants, all-on-4s, and snap-in dentures. Depending on the manufacturer’s warranty and the doctor’s, patients are required to follow the recommended aftercare procedures. It’s unnecessary to return to Mexico where you had the procedure as long as you can provide the dental office where you had the follow-up aftercare as prescribed by your U.S. dentist. Also, it’s important to mention that maintaining your overall physical health is important for the long-term success of any procedure.

I am wondering if it is recommended to have teeth extractions done ‘at home’ before and well ahead of time for continuing with the implant procedure in Mexico? Or, is it common practice there to place implants immediately following a tooth being pulled? Is it the same day? Thanks Barbara
We get this question a lot, Barbara and there’s not one answer for all cases. Depending on the individual case, if the bone density is good, an experienced Implantologist can remove a tooth and place an implant at the same time, using bone graft material to fill in the space where the tooth was extracted. Our doctors rely on CT scans to evaluate a case and determine their options. CT scans show much more details, including bone density, nerves and soft tissue surrounding teeth.
My insurance here in Colorado will pay for dentures but they will not pay for anchor teeth can I go to Mexico and turn these dentures into anchor teeth
It may be possible that our doctors can turn your dentures into anchor teeth but they would need more information on your individual case. Our dental offices in Mexico are sophisticated enough to do any procedures in the dental field and are trained in their specialties.
My two front teeth are wiggling and my dentist here is saying that she has to extract them, add bone, then give me temporary replacement until the bone heals then give me permanent implants. I just want my teeth replaced quickly and with high quality. Can you do a consultation?
It sounds like not having teeth missing for a long period is a major concern for you and we get that; however, without an in-office examination by a doctor, we can only speculate on your options. Based on some of our past patients with similar circumstances, if they prefer a permanent solution, i.e., implants, the doctors will place a temporary at the extraction site during the healing period. Another possible option would be to place a bridge with two prosthetic teeth using your natural teeth as anchors. Bridges are less expensive, and a faster solution but the downside is the load is shifted to your natural teeth and may cause them to become loose sooner than they would naturally.
I take Coumadin to control a genetic blood clotting disorder. I need 4 dental implants. My physician has told me that for any oral surgery I would need to hold the Coumadin for five days, then take Lovanox right after the surgery until my INR level is good again.
Would it be feasible and safe for me to get the implants at one of your Mexico clinics?
This is a great question, Maureen, and an important one. All our patients who go to our vetted dental offices in Mexico are medically screened by the doctor, especially for invasive procedures. Patients must complete medical history forms and be transparent about current medications and conditions. If a patient is expected to have an invasive procedure such as oral surgery, they must provide our doctors with a letter from their primary care doctor or specialist, signed by them. So, I am under the impression that to get implants, you get the checkup/procedure, get “temp teeth”, and then about 6 months you will have to fly back to get the “real” teeth. Is this impression correct? (Just trying to figure out if I need to budget for one or two trips)

Thank you for your question on dental implants. For sure you need to plan on two, possibly three visits for implants, with a minimum waiting period of four to six months for the implants to solidify in your jaw bone. Patients are usually given temporary teeth after the implants are placed. Every case is different so it’s important to keep in mind your treatment may vary.

That’s a great question, and the answer is that our patient care coordinators help patients fill out their dental insurance claim forms to be reimbursed. However, it is the responsibility of the patient to contact their insurance provider directly and obtain the necessary claim forms.

If a patient is a good candidate for any implant procedure, including full-mouth restoration and it is done correctly by a trained, experienced Implantologist, it should last a life time. Patients also should be in good general health and avoid tobacco substances. Moreover, we recommend if you have this procedure done in Mexico to finish it with the same doctor so you don’t void the warranty.

In most cases where veneers are placed the natural tooth has to be prepped, remove some of the tooth surfaces. It may not be feasible for you to have the veneers removed and whitened. Other factors that may affect the cost includes what type of material is used to make the veneer, (zirconia, porcelain or resin-based), the expertise of the dentist and how many veneers you get at one time.
